The former First Precinct of the Minneapolis Police Department. Built in 1902, this building was originally a fire station for the Minneapolis Fire Department, and was later heavily modified with a more modern brick facade that mimics the arched windows on the intact side and rear facades of the building. In 2002, the building became home to the Minneapolis Police Department’s 1st Precinct, though the department has been slowly transitioning to Century Plaza on 3rd Ave. S. throughout 2025. Minneapolis police arrest suspected shooter in August shooting near homeless encampment

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police have arrested and charged a 24-year-old man in connection with the August 26 mass shooting that left one person dead and six others injured near the intersection of East 29th Street and Clinton Avenue. The shooting occurred near a large homeless encampment that had been established on a private parking lot owned by Hamoudi Sabri.
