I began to realize I've walked this earth for 32 years, trying not to exist, making myself smaller so my presence didn't affect those around me. Then three women sitting in a cozy living room, each one knitting/crocheting something warm, changed everything. I didn't know it yet, but I was about to feel the hug I'd been waiting a decade for.

Minneapolis was chosen as our base of operations for a reason. Their strong sense of community, strength of character, and ability to persevere are admirable. Minneapolis is the biggest small town in America, and last week proved it.

2025 was another year of growth for the Daily Planet, and we can’t wait to continue our orbit in big ways going into 2026.

I’ve been thinking about the farm a great deal lately. If you’re an avid reader, you know I talk about that place a lot, but it was so formative to my being that it’s hard not to. I spent a quarter of a century on that dirt, connecting with the earth and my identity in a way I’ve never experienced anywhere else, and this was one of my favorite times of the year to live there.

Metropolis was a magical place that was once a hub of imagination and creativity, ultimately giving birth to this news organization. Our previous revisits explored the early history and detailed streets of Metropolis, but this chapter will celebrate the kids who played there, giving the city its heart and soul.

In the first chapter of Metropolis in Minnesota, Zack Benz tells the story of a tiny city that began as “Coolsville” on a picnic table and grew into a Metropolis inspired by Superman, showing how imagination, wooden structures, and personal challenges created a world of hope, family, and storytelling, leading to the Daily Planet.
