Every great newsroom needs new voices, and the Daily Planet is looking for its next batch. The publication is inviting collaborators and contributors across every medium, including writers, photographers, videographers, illustrators and podcasters, to join its growing community.
I started the Daily Planet in a mini-Metropolis on my family farm in Hibbing, Minnesota, and I am amazed at how much it continues to grow. Inspired by the sense of community I found in the pages of my Superman comics, I am eager to expand it even further. While we already have people from various corners of the world involved, I want to reach even more. Please consider contributing to our efforts.
The Daily Planet cannot currently pay contributors for their work, but it compensates creators by boosting their content across its platforms to a growing audience of more than 23,000 readers and over 1 million monthly impressions.
Nearly every format is welcome. Writers can pitch newsbriefs, features, reviews, opinion pieces, listicles, recipes, poetry, memorials, or creative works, to name a few. Photographers and visual artists can submit galleries, slideshows, standalone photos or original illustrations. Podcasters and audio creators can contribute full episodes or audio-driven articles, and video creators can submit vlogs, trailers or embedded video pieces. The Daily Planet also publishes two free digital print editions, a weekly Online Edition and a seasonal magazine, both of which pull from contributed work published on the site.
Those interested in a single submission rather than an ongoing role can use the Daily Planet’s simple file upload option for a one-time photo essay, listicle or other short-form piece. Readers with a story tip rather than a finished piece can also submit a confidential tip directly to the newsroom.

Nearly every contributed piece is accepted, though submissions are reviewed against the Daily Planet’s Code of Ethics and general-audience standards, and extreme profanity or harsh language will be edited or declined. Contributors retain complete creative control over subject matter, which can range from entertainment and profile pieces to politics and beyond.
The Daily Planet will not partner with professional brands for free and will filter submissions to determine whether their news pieces are thoughtful or merely sponsored posts trying to sell products. Please refer to our advertising section for such inquiries.
Creators looking to build a brand of their own, whether a podcast, blog, or separate outlet, can also pursue a collaboration with the Daily Planet rather than a one-off submission. Anyone interested in becoming a continual contributor is encouraged to apply directly or reach out with questions by email at dailyplanetdc@gmail.com.
