MINNEAPOLIS — Prosecutors have charged Gabryella Marie Liebgott with criminal vehicular homicide in connection with a March 22 hit-and-run crash that killed Seham Hassen, authorities announced Monday.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, Hassen was struck while crossing the street in the 1600 block of Marshall Street Northeast around 3:10 a.m. Officers responding to the scene found the woman, believed to be in her 20s, with life-threatening injuries. She was taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where she later died.

Investigators said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and did not stop after the collision. Hassen had been carrying a bag of food at the time she was hit.

Liebgott was arrested on April 3 and formally charged on April 6, police said.
