MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police announced Sunday morning that they are investigating an overnight shooting in south Minneapolis that left one man dead and another man injured.
Fifth Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Lyndale Avenue S. at 1:20 a.m. Officers found an adult man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services transported the man to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts.
Officers later learned that a second adult man who may have been involved in the incident arrived at North Memorial Medical Center in a private vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Preliminary information indicates a group was in a parking lot in the area when another group opened fire on them. Homicide investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
Minneapolis Police Department forensic scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.
