SAINT PAUL, MN — Saint Paul police are investigating a fatal shooting in downtown Saint Paul that left one man dead and a second man injured late Wednesday night.
Officers responded to the 200 block of 7th Street East shortly before midnight on July 29 following multiple reports of shots fired. When they arrived, officers found two adult men suffering from gunshot wounds.
The first victim sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound to the stomach and was transported to Regions Hospital, where he later died. The second victim was located inside a nearby apartment with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was also taken to Regions Hospital for treatment.
Saint Paul Police homicide investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting. No arrests have been made at this time.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to formally identify the deceased victim and determine the official cause and manner of death.
Fox 9 confirmed the same details in its overnight report, noting that Wednesday night’s shooting marked the city’s 12th homicide of the year.
