The clock is ticking for Twin Cities theatergoers hoping to catch “Wicked” before it leaves town. The touring production has 10 days left in its Minneapolis run, closing Sunday, Aug. 9, at the historic Orpheum Theatre (910 Hennepin Ave.), wrapping the 2025-2026 Bank of America Broadway on Hennepin season, according to Hennepin Arts.
Remaining performances run Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Hennepin Arts notes that performance schedules, prices and cast are subject to change without notice. Tickets remain available through Hennepin Arts, and groups of 10 or more can book through Broadway’s group sales page.
The production is currently the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history and is in its 23rd year on Broadway. It has won more than 100 international awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, and has been staged in over 100 cities across 16 countries.
The touring cast currently features several principal performers who joined the show last month. Beginning Tuesday, June 9, Aline Mayagoitia stepped into the role of Elphaba, alongside Claudia Bennett as Glinda, Susan Cella as Madame Morrible, Pablo Laucerica as Boq and Cristina Sastre as Nessarose. They perform alongside Tom McGowan as the Wizard, Ethan Kirschbaum as Fiyero, Drew McVety as Doctor Dillamond and Adelina Mitchell as the Elphaba standby.
Mayagoitia made her Broadway debut originating the role of Itzel in “Real Women Have Curves” and previously toured as Katherine Howard in “Six.” Bennett, a 2025 University of Southern California School of Dramatic Arts graduate, is making her national tour debut. Laucerica recently played King Louis XIV in “The Queen of Versailles” on Broadway, and Sastre, also making her tour debut, previously appeared on Broadway in “How to Dance in Ohio.”
“Wicked” imagines the land of Oz before Dorothy’s arrival, centered on the unlikely friendship between Elphaba, a green-skinned young woman with extraordinary talent, and Glinda, her bubbly and popular counterpart, before the world brands one “good” and the other “wicked.” The score includes “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.
Once the Minneapolis engagement closes, this marks the last chance for local audiences to see this cast’s take on the production before the tour moves to its next market. More information is available through Wicked’s official site.
