MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) is investigating the shooting death of a man in the 300 block of Wilson Street, an area just north of East Hennepin Avenue between the Como and Mid-City neighborhoods.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting with a person down at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, according to a police statement. Officers found a man in the street with life-threatening gunshot wounds and began immediate lifesaving efforts, including CPR. Despite those efforts and additional care from EMS personnel, the man died at the scene.
Officers secured the scene and managed a large crowd leaving a nearby building where a party was underway, police said. It has not been confirmed whether the gathering was connected to the shooting.
MPD forensic scientists processed the scene and collected evidence. Homicide investigators are working to determine the full sequence of events that led to the shooting. No arrests have been made, and the victim’s identity has not been released.
The shooting was one of several reported in Minneapolis over the same overnight period, including incidents on Plymouth Avenue North and Lowry Avenue North, though police have not indicated any connection between them.
The MPD incident number for the Wilson Street shooting is 26-185149. This is in the 2nd Precinct (Northeast), which includes Como and Mid-City Industrial among its 19 neighborhoods. The precinct is bordered by the Mississippi River to the west and south, 37th Avenue NE to the north, and the cities of St. Anthony and St. Paul to the east, covering the Wilson Street location.
