Good Bye DC Universe! Hello, DC Universe Infinite

For Months and Months many DC Comics fans have wondered about the future of DC Universe, following the arrival of HBO Max. Along with the streaming platform, their parent company, WarnerMedia, underwent a recent makeover.

It seems that the WarnerMedia makeover is only the beginning because DC Universe is exiting out of scripted television shows. The new platform will solely transition into a comic book subscription service titled “DC Universe Infinite.”

DC Universe Infinite will launch on Jan. 21, 2021. DC Comics fans will have access to over 24,000 comic books, digital-first comics, exclusive access to DC fan events and a stream of recently released comics that had their physical versions released.

From its initial launch, DC Universe Infinite will be expanded globally in the summer of 2021.

This news comes after Kaley Cuoco’s “Harley Quinn” was renewed for a third season. “Harley Quinn” is adult animated series that stars Big Bang theory alum Kaley Cuoco as the titular anti-heroine. The show has gained strong reviews for its first 2 seasons. Both seasons are now available on HBO Max.

The changes in DC Comics are not the first time and for some not surprising. HBO Max will serve as the home for all DC Universe series including the recently season renewals of Doom Patrol, Young Justice Seasons one through four, “Titans” Season one through three. Stargirl season one will also be available on HBO Max. In addition to the moves, Season two of Stargirl will be airing only on the CW starting in Jan. 2021.

DC Comics CCO, Jim Lee spoke on the recent transition occurring at DC Comics.

“Our fans love the platform’s robust library of comic books and, with the transformation, we will not disappoint,” said DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee. “I’m excited to share that not only will DC Universe Infinite members still be able to read all of the great comics that they’ve enjoyed but new issues are debuting on the platform quicker than before, digital first exclusives are being created, and the members-only events will begin as soon as possible. There has never been a better time to be a DC fan!”

DC Comics Infinite will be available for IOS and Andriod devices for 7.99 a month or 74.99 a year.
