DC Comics is gearing up for its annual Pride celebrations with the release of the highly anticipated “DC Pride 2025” anthology. This year’s edition marks the fifth anniversary of the Eisner and Ringo award-winning series, and it promises to be a transformative and timely story of community, love, and resilience.

Unlike previous editions, which featured a collection of short stories, “DC Pride 2025” will present a singular story arc of interweaving narratives. The anthology will bring together a host of acclaimed creators, including Tim Sheridan, Vita Ayala, Josh Trujillo, Skylar Patridge, A.L. Kaplan, Max Sarin, and more.

The central narrative of “DC Pride 2025” revolves around a century-old tavern in Gotham City that has become the heart of queer life in the city. When the tavern unexpectedly announces its imminent closure, generations of patrons return to pay their respects to a space that has been a sanctuary for their memories, wishes, and dreams. Among them is Alan Scott, the Green Lantern, who returns to the place where he fell in love with Johnny Ladd. Alan’s journey to touch the wall, where they carved the symbol of their love and to say goodbye sets the stage for a powerful and emotional story.

“‘DC Pride 2025’ is a celebration of life, love, and the power of community—even and especially in uncertain times,” said Tim Sheridan, writer of the much-loved Alan Scott: The Green Lantern. “The roster of talent shaping this story is as epic as the story itself—so all I can say is buckle up for big action, bigger fun, and the biggest stakes yet. This book, as it has been in years past, is a way to reach out to our community and remind them we’re all in this together”.

The anthology will feature a diverse cast of characters, including Jo Mullein, Blue Snowman, Connor Hawke, Harley Quinn, and many more. Each character’s story will be interwoven with the central narrative, creating a rich tapestry of experiences and emotions.

“It is such a huge honor to be part of the story DC has been telling,” Jude Ellison S. Doyle, who is collaborating with artist Alex Moore, said. “And to help Josh Trujillo bring new character Ethan Rivera—along with my own personal soulmate and/or best friend, trans icon Blue Snowman—into this universe.”

Vita Ayala, writer of the GLAAD Media Award-nominated series New Mutants, shared their thoughts on the collaborative process.

“What made this project extra special to me was the way that the collaboration of creating the anthology almost mirrors the framework and ultimate solution of the metaphor at the heart of it,” Ayala said. “We got together in a (virtual) room, each with ideas for our own piece of the narrative, and at the end of the time, we had interwoven our stories in ways that make it hard to tell where one person’s contribution ends, and another begins. We approached the work as collaborators and ended up creating a community space that (we hope) welcomes everyone in from the cold, no matter what door (or which individual short story) people came through.”

“DC Pride 2025” will be published on June 4, 2025, and will be accompanied by a series of variant covers inspired by DC Pride throughout the month of June. The anthology is a testament to DC Comics’ commitment to celebrating and uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community, both within its stories and among its creators.
