“Supergirl” is now available to rent or purchase digitally, Warner Bros. confirmed, arriving on platforms including Amazon, Apple TV and Sky.

The film, directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira, stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El and follows the character on an interstellar journey across the galaxy with her dog Krypto. It debuted in theaters June 26 as part of the DC Universe’s Chapter One slate, following last year’s “Superman.”

Warner Bros. has also set physical media dates. The digital and 4K UHD editions will include more than 90 minutes of behind-the-scenes material, with the film arriving on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD starting Sept. 8. Bonus features include a making-of documentary, a featurette on Krypto and Kara’s relationship, and an animated short focused on the Superdog, among other extras.

A streaming date on HBO Max has not been announced. Industry estimates point to a window between early September and late October, based on how recently comparable Warner Bros. Discovery titles have made the jump to the service. Warner Bros. has not confirmed a timeline.

“Supergirl” has struggled commercially since opening. The film posted a domestic opening weekend of $37.1 million and a global opening of roughly $62.6 million, falling short of studio expectations. Its box office performance continued to soften in subsequent weeks, with the film’s worldwide total landing around $120 million as its theatrical run wound down. That figure sits well below the film’s reported break-even point of roughly $300 million, a target driven by a production budget of up to $186 million and marketing costs estimated at around $120 million.

By comparison, “Superman” grossed $618.7 million worldwide against a $225 million budget, making it the highest-grossing superhero film of 2025. “Supergirl” has drawn a more divided response, holding a 53% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes against a 73% audience score.

Despite the film’s theatrical shortfall, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn’s broader DCU plans continue. “Man of Tomorrow,” the studio’s next mainline Superman film, is set for release in July 2027, with Alcock’s Kara expected to play a role. “Lanterns” and “Clayface” are also on the DCU’s upcoming release calendar.
