White House releases 1776 Commission, defends slave owning Founding Fathers

1 min read

The White House shared its final report in the 1776 Commission today. The document states that criticism of the Founding Fathers’ slave ownership “has done enormous damage” and has had a “devastating effect on our civic unity and social fabric.”

Basically, the Trump administration’s report marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day by defending the Founding Fathers for owning slaves and attacked the Civil Rights Movement. Americans are criticizing the outgoing administration stating that President Trump, and his cabinet, are racist to their core. In its Civil Rights section, the document even calls the KKK as a “vigilante” group.

“1776 Commission — comprised of some of America’s most distinguished scholars and historians — has released a report presenting a definitive chronicle of the American founding, a powerful description of the effect the principles of the Declaration of Independence have had on this Nation’s history, and a dispositive rebuttal of reckless ‘re-education’ attempts that seek to reframe American history around the idea that the United States is not an exceptional country but an evil one,” White House officials said in a statement with their document.
