Haylie Davis shares new single ‘Country Boy’ with official video

Los Angeles singer-songwriter Haylie Davis released her latest single, “Country Boy,” along with an official music video, giving an early look at her debut album, expected in 2026.

Following the release of her first single, “Golden Age,” Davis shifted toward cosmic Americana with “Country Boy,” a ballad about young outsiders adjusting to life in the city. The track combined wailing steel guitar with her distinctive vocals, evoking the Laurel Canyon folk-pop of the 1970s and drawing comparisons to Linda Ronstadt’s Silk Purse.

Davis said she dedicated the song to Midwest and Southern country boys who had left home to pursue life in Los Angeles, where she also lives. Recorded live in a single take, the track showcased her vocal range and storytelling abilities, revealing a more mature side of her songwriting compared to her earlier work.

She was part of a growing Los Angeles music scene that nods to classic troubadours, blending influences from Judy Collins, Carole King, and Emmylou Harris with a post–Gen Z sensibility.

Critics praised the song and Davis’ voice: Rolling Stone called her songs “gently hued Laurel Canyon folk-pop,” while Shindig described her as “one of California’s brightest apparitions…all bound by her soaring voice.” Americana UK noted the “charming echoes of effortlessly cool 70s folk,” and Still Listening highlighted her “remarkable voice…poised to weave her melodies into the hearts of listeners.”

Davis had also contributed vocals to projects by Sam Burton, Drugdealer, Alex Amen, and Sylvie. She is expected to release her debut album through Fire Records in 2026, blending rock and pop with her folk and country roots.
