US House subcommittee holds public UFO hearing

The highly-anticipated testimony from two top military officials tasked with probing the sightings will be closely watched after decades of secrecy.

A subcommittee of the House Intelligence Committee will hear testimony on Tuesday from two Pentagon officials, marking the first open congressional hearing on unidentified aerial vehicles (colloquially known as UFOs) since early 1970.

This comes after a June 2021 report which identified 144 incidents of “unidentified aerial phenomena” but was only able to explain one.

The hearing will focus on the work of a group within the Pentagon that is following up on the national security and flight-safety questions raised by the report.
