Amazon workers at New York warehouse vote to form company’s first union in US

1 min read

Amazon workers in Staten Island, New York, voted by a wide margin to unionize on Friday, marking the first successful US organizing effort at the company.

Amazon is the second-largest employer in the US and the vote marks one of the biggest victories for organized labor in decades.

Last year, the amount of workers in unions dropped to 10.3% even as the US faces a labor shortage and witnesses new organizing efforts at companies like Amazon and Starbucks.
