Director James Wan, known for his work on the “Conjuring 1” and “Conjuring 2,” took to Instagram giving us a first look at the costumes Jason Mamoa would be sporting in his next outing as the King of the Deep in the upcoming sequel to the well received Blockbuster hit, “Aquaman.”
The sequel is titled “Aquaman:The Lost Kingdom.” The post contained two images, one showing Mamoa is the Classic Aquaman suit worn in the first movie and a second suit which has a darker palette — presumably is a stealth suit.
Wan wrote “Here’s @prideofgypsies in the classic #Aquaman suit AND a sneak peek at his other outfit — the stealth suit. Atlantean tech based on cephalopod’s camouflaging ability. David Leslie Johnson and I were inspired by the 80’s “blue suit”.”
To which Jason Mamoa, the actor who portrays Aruther Curry/Aquaman, responded with a post on Instagram, where Mamoa writes “Second round. New suit. More action. #aquaman Aloha j”
The post has garnered a lot of positive response, most notably from Dwayne “the rock” Johnson, who is also portraying a prominent character in the DC Universe, Black Adam, who’s solo outing is slated for a 2022 release.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will open in theaters on Dec. 16, 2022 and fans can expect to get more news and possibly even a trailer in the upcoming DC FanDome event on Oct. 16.
