Legacy

1 min read

Have you ever wondered about the mystery of life
The moment where you want to see the next chapter already written
The hard memories you wish you could erase
Or the tears you wish you could have wiped away
Before they ran down your fragile face
Every instance of heartbreak and tragedy
Or moments of achievement
Sprinkled with a hint of success
Have you ever realized life is a spectator sport
Branded by the mantra
“Everyone is welcome”
However many idle by though
Standing on the sidelines
They feel stricken with fear
Clouded by doubt
Always waiting to be called or chosen
Not realizing the potential has always been in reach
Emotions of anger fester deep down
Passion turns to tears
However, they always remain hungry salivating the moment
Eager to be chosen to write their narrative
Then the unthinkable happens
Life flashes before your eyes
You’re left with a constant thought
Did you enjoy the film
Or was the ending not what you hoped
Regardless when you awake from your dream of euphoria
You realize chapters have become years
Moments grew into memories
A novel was slowly being drafted over your slumber of longevity
So I ask when you reach the final increment of time
The moment where seconds feel like days
Minutes felt like years
Will you see the scoreboard of your journey
And reflect on the final score of your legacy?
While presiding in the field of dreams
