Eden Prairie plans prescribed burns

City parks and natural resources staff, with assistance from the Fire Department, are conducting prescribed prairie burns through December.

EDEN PRAIRIE— Each prescribed burn is expected to last one to three hours, dependent upon weather conditions.

Studies have shown that prescribed burns help to rejuvenate growth and ensure long-term survival of the native prairie by controlling invasive plants. After burning, the ground will appear charred, but plant regrowth will still occur in the spring and produce a variety of new species.

Prescribed burn locations

  • Crestwood Park
  • Community Center
  • Pheasant Woods Park
  • Pioneer Park
  • Round Lake Park

If you have any questions, contact the City’s Parks and Natural Resources Division.
