Ben Affleck will be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne / Batman in the sequel superhero film “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” according to star Jason Momoa.
Momoa, who returns as Aquamn the King of the Seven Seas, took to Instagram today with a photo of him and Affleck after rumors of the Academy Award winner’s return began to swirl among tourists at Warner Bros. Studios.
The announcement came as a surprise to many since Affleck once stated that he was hanging his cape up for good after shooting for “The Flash” in 2019. “Batman” (1989) alum Michael Keaton is also reported to appear as the Dark Knight once again in the upcoming standalone.
Affleck originally took on the role as Gotham’s Caped Crusader in 2016’s “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” directed by Zack Snyder. He has since appeared in “Suicide Squad,” the theatrical version of “Justice League” and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”
Affleck’s return doesn’t necessarily mean that DC Entertainment will be stepping away from Keaton, but the news is exciting nonetheless for fans. Affleck’s Batman has become a favorite online, coining the term “Batffleck.”
