A man died hours after being shot during a domestic dispute in Saint Paul’s Frogtown neighborhood early Friday morning.

A woman called 911 at about 12:15 a.m. and told dispatchers in the Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center that a man had been shot inside a car near the intersection of Sherburne Avenue and North Mackubin Street.

Officers rushed to the scene and found a man in his 30s suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The officers secured the scene, rendered aid and called for Saint Paul Fire medics, who transported the victim to Regions Hospital.

The victim was rushed to surgery but died about three hours after being shot.

The woman who shot him, Kyra Love, 28, was taken into custody and booked into the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault before the man died. She’s currently being held as investigators with the police department’s homicide unit begin to work the case to determine exactly what led to the shooting.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.

This is the 17th homicide of 2022 in Saint Paul.
