One person shot and killed in Saint Paul’s North End neighborhood

Multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots fired on the 200 block of Maryland Avenue West at about 10:30 p.m. Officers rushed to the scene and found a male lying in the street near the intersection of Maryland and Matilda Street.

Saint Paul police are investigating after a person was shot and killed in the city’s North End neighborhood Thursday night.  

Multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots fired on the 200 block of Maryland Avenue West at about 10:30 p.m. Officers rushed to the scene and found a male lying in the street near the intersection of Maryland and Matilda Street.  

The officers secured the scene, began CPR and called for Saint Paul Fire medics, who responded and pronounced the victim dead without transporting him to a hospital. 

Investigators with the police department’s homicide and forensic services units are currently looking for possible witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. No arrests have been made, and anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650. 

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn. 

This is the 16th homicide of 2022 in Saint Paul.
