Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Edmund Avenue at about 3:30 this morning on a report of a person shot. That’s where they found a man believed to be in his 20s suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers attempted to render aid and called for Saint Paul Fire medics, who responded and transported the man to the hospital, where he later died.

Investigators with the police department’s homicide and forensic services units are currently looking for possible witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. No arrests have been made, and anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account.

This is the 15th homicide of 2022 in Saint Paul.
