Fans excited after Zack Snyder shares cryptic Thanksgiving Day post

1 min read

On Thanksgiving Day Director Zack Snyder shared a video of a turkey captioning it “Thankful” on his favored social media platform Vero, and fans are conspiring about what appeared in the background.

Almost immediately fans noticed the copy of “Final Crisis,” a graphic novel by best-selling writer Grant Morrison (“Batman,” “All-Star Superman,” “JLA”) and critically acclaimed artist J.G. Jones (“52,” “Wanted”).

The book explores the fateful question “what happens when evil wins?” That’s the question Superman, Batman, the Justice League and every being in the DCU have to face when Darkseid and his otherworldly legion of narcissistic followers actually win the war between light and dark.

Above this epic DC title in Snyder’s post were two books/files. Some speculate that they were concepts for a new Zack Snyder DC title, but nothing is confirmed.

A while ago, Zack stated that if his “Snyderverse” were to continue, we would’ve gotten the iconic frame from “Final Crisis,” where Superman holds Batman’s burnt corpse.

“Final Crisis” has reportedly been a huge inspiration for Snyder while he was storyboarding his arc for the New Gods. Snyder Storyboarded his plans for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) back in 2013 with Artist Jim Lee and Geoff Johns, mapping out the possible arcs he would’ve collaborated on with the other directors stepping in. Those Storyboards were considered discarded after Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff publicly stated the completion of Zack Snyder’s Justice League Trilogy (“Man of Steel,” “Batman vs Superman,” “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”), thus cancelling the chances for a future continuation of the Snyderverse.

However, Snyder still had hopes for his story to be told and plans to keep the final storyboards for his saga a secret. Maybe the books here are “Justice League 2” and “Justice League 2A,” as titled in the original storyboards.

Zack Snyder surely hasn’t moved on from his DC Universe and continues to support the fan movements calling for the restoration of his saga.

Jainam Turakhia has been a fan of DC for as long as he can remember, but what really tickles his inner creativity is Zack Snyder's vision for the DC Universe. From there Turakhia has traveled to a lot of destinations exploring works of other artists who make movies or write books/comics. Zack Snyder however, is always his hometown. He loves watching, and analyzing, anything and everything. Still a student from India studying Chartered Accountancy, Turakhia's passion for stories doesn't seem to end.
