On Friday, both House managers and Donald Trump’s legal team fielded questions from Senators after the former president’s defense team presented its case on his role in the January 6 assault on the US Capitol building. A verdict could come as soon as Saturday.

House impeachment managers presented their arguments against Trump on Wednesday and Thursday. The Senate is unlikely to achieve the two-thirds vote required to convict Trump, according to reports.

On Friday, Trump’s defense took about three of their allotted 16 hours to present their arguments before taking questions from Senators.

On Wednesday and Thursday, House managers provided their arguments against former president Trump, presenting evidence from throughout Trump’s presidency and as far back as his 2016 presidential campaign, including new security footage of the attack on the US Capitol. The former president was acquitted on two articles of impeachment in 2020.
