DOJ and FBI give update on investigation into US Capitol attack

1 min read

FBI Washington Field Office ADIC Steven D’Antuono and DOJ Acting US Attorney Michael Sherwin held a joint briefing Tuesday to provide updates following the January 6 attack by a pro-Trump mob on the US Capitol.

Sherwin said the Department of Justice (DOJ) is pursuing sedition and conspiracy charges among a wide range of other crimes currently being investigated. There are now about 170 subject files open, but that number will grow in what is expected to be a “long haul” investigation, according to Sherwin. D’Antuono said last week’s arrest of Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was intended to be a precaution to the US Capitol breach.
