YouTube stars James Charles and Emma Chamberlain reunited and teamed up to film a video for each other’s channels after about a year of distance and unfollowing each other on social media in early 2019.

The YouTubers both released videos yesterday, Sept. 1, to commemorate the occasion.

To celebrate the announcement, Charles uploaded a video titled, “Emma Chamberlain Picks My Outfits For A Week!” where Chamberlain was tasked to style him in five different looks. This video is currently trending and has received over five million views in a day.

“It’s been a really long time,” Charles said.

On Chamberlain’s channel, she uploaded a video called, “DOING JAMES CHARLES MAKEUP *WE’RE BACK?*,” which has over four million views and is also trending. In this video, Chamberlain did her makeup routine on Charles and chatted with him.

“We’ve been texting back and forth, hanging out a few times behind the scenes as well,” Charles said.

Chamberlain and Charles reunited through their mutual friend, Larri Merritt, and were able to repair their friendship, which is now public once again.

“God I missed you,” Chamberlain said, sporting the most recent Sister’s Apparel, Charles’ clothing line, butterfly collection merch.

Chamberlain admitted in her video that one issue that arises in YouTubers is that they tend to want to know each other and want to be friends, but staying with only YouTubers doesn’t work.

“You stick to that small bubble and I think that it’s like high school where it ends up not working,” she said.

After Charles’s feud with Tati Westbrook, a fellow beauty YouTuber and owner of Halo Beauty, a skincare vitamin company, in May of 2019, fans began noticing that the members of the Sister Squad had seemingly disconnected because they stopped filming videos together and unfollowed one another on social media, such as Instagram.

Jeffree Star, YouTuber, singer, and founder of Jeffree Star Cosmetics was involved in the drama too, but it is a bit unclear of the extent to which he had a role in spreading information about Charles besides the tweets he made.

Chamberlain went on a “social-media cleanse” where she trimmed her Instagram following to “just 17 people,” Insider said.

The “Sister Squad,” a name created to refer to Charles’ group of friends that would film many videos together, consisted of Chamberlain, Charles and the Dolan twins, Ethan and Grayson. The group would post videos on each other’s channels doing anything from buying each other outfits, taking a road trip to Las Vegas, and going to a haunted house.

James Charles Dickenson, who simply goes by James Charles, is a New York native who is a popular beauty influencer on YouTube. He was the first male ambassador for CoverGirl in 2016 and currently has over 21 million subscribers on YouTube at just 21 years old.

Emma Chamberlain is also a well-known YouTuber that has obtained 9.4 million subscribers on the platform. Chamberlain, 19, has her own podcast, Stupid Genius, and already has a business, Chamberlain Coffee

She is a California native.

During the feud, which is also known in the beauty community as “Dramageddon 2.0,” Westbrook released a video on her YouTube channel, “BYE SISTER…” where she called out Charles for his behavior. She made several claims, including that Charles used his fame to “manipulate someone’s sexuality,” the Washington Post said.

She also felt betrayed by Charles promoting SugarBear vitamins, a competitor of hers, on Instagram, even though she was like a mentor to him. Consequently, Charles lost over 2.5 million subscribers in a few days on YouTube, as well as some friends, according to the Washington Post.

According to Elite Daily, Chamberlain claimed there was no tension between her and Charles. They were just focusing on themselves.

This came as a shock to some fans when Chamberlain was interviewed by paparazzi Aug. 5, and she tried to avoid them when they asked about her reuniting with the Sister Squad, according to Elite Daily.

Charles admitted that he tried reaching out to Chamberlain during their break, but Chamberlain changed her number. He even tried reaching out to congratulate her on making Chamberlain Coffee.

“I would NEVER not respond to somebody’s texts and so when he told me that, I was f***ing mortified,” Chamberlain said.

While it doesn’t look like the whole squad will be getting back together in the near future, fans are excited that the pair are spending time together.

“It’s been really amazing just catching back up,” Charles said.
