DC will expand Superman Day into a coordinated global event on April 18, with comic shop activations, exclusive releases and fan events planned across multiple countries, the company announced.
The annual celebration, which marks Superman’s debut in “Action Comics” no. 1, is being scaled up this year to align with DC’s broader publishing and film strategy, including a renewed focus on Supergirl.
According to DC, comic shops will serve as the primary hubs for the event, offering free titles, limited-edition releases and in-store programming aimed at drawing both longtime readers and new fans. Although Warner Bros. is offering some exclusive Superman experiences as well.
Among the announced releases are a special edition of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” no. 1, a new “Supergirl” no. 1 series and facsimile editions of “Action Comics” no. 1 and no. 252, which first introduced Supergirl.

DC is also distributing a sampler tied to upcoming Supergirl projects, part of what the company has described as a broader “Summer of Supergirl” initiative.
Events are planned across North America, Europe, Latin America and parts of Asia-Pacific, with local retailers hosting signings, giveaways and community programming. In Metropolis, Illinois, celebrations will include a public gathering centered around the city’s Superman statue.
The expansion reflects DC’s effort to position Superman Day as a global retail and fan engagement event, rather than a primarily U.S.-based observance.
The April 18 rollout comes as DC builds momentum around its upcoming Supergirl film and related publishing slate, signaling a wider push to elevate the character alongside Superman.
