We finally have a piece for our fashion section! With all the hype around the new Superman movie, the Daily Planet received word from Filippo Loreti that they teamed up with DC Comics to unveil a line of new Superman-themed watches. Filippo Loreti also offered us the opportunity to review their product, which will come at a later date after their launch.

Filippo Loreti has collaborated with DC Comics to create the “Watches of Steel” collection, a limited-edition series of automatic watches that embody the values of Superman, such as hope, strength, justice, and vulnerability.

Unveiled before its public launch on July 11, with an early release for our readers on July 10, the collection blends detailed watchmaking with storytelling. Filippo Loreti, a brand known for its craftsmanship and quality, has teamed up with DC to reinterpret Superman’s story in five themed models, each highlighting an essential part of the Kryptonian legend.

Design meets mythology

According to Filippo Loreti, the Watches of Steel collection is more than just branding. They described each piece as a storytelling item. The design features elements from Kryptonian culture, references to planets, and themes that evoke both strength and emotion.

Power – Red: With a dial shaped like a meteorite and deep red lume, this watch evokes a sense of strong energy. It is framed in a rugged 42mm steel case coated in black IP plating.

Justice – Blue: A tribute to Superman’s moral center. The design features blue luminescent accents and an engraved caseback with Kryptonian text, emphasizing purpose and principled clarity.

Kryptonite – Green: This model glows with Kryptonite’s haunting green—symbolizing vulnerability, humility, and remembrance of Krypton’s fall.

Kal-El – Black Diver: Crafted for resilience, this 40mm diver’s watch represents Superman’s dual existence. It includes a unidirectional bezel, black lume for stealth, and water resistance of 20 ATM.

Fortress of Solitude – Ice Blue Diver: A representation of a secluded retreat and introspection. Bright blue lume, cool silver contrasts, and a rugged diver’s configuration capture the tranquility of the Fortress itself.

The collection’s watches have impressive features. Each watch includes anti-reflective sapphire glass, NH35 automatic movements that don’t require batteries, and water resistance from 10 to 20 ATM. They also come with silicone straps, engraved buckles, and unique meteorite-inspired dials.

Packaging and presentation

The packaging for each model resembles a comic book narrative about Superman. It provides protection while showcasing design, mechanical precision, and emotional appeal. The Ultimate Collector Edition is limited to 100 units, each featuring a red box, a leather pouch, and Superman-themed NATO straps.

Market expectations

Filippo Loreti has only 500 units available for each design, and demand is expected to be high among collectors and DC fans, so the Watches of Steel are expected to sell out quickly, according to the brand. This partnership brings together pop culture and luxury craftsmanship, where stories enhance beauty.

The Watches of Steel collection will be available via Filippo Loreti’s official channels beginning July 10 for early subscribers and July 11 for the general public.
