The shooting occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024, near Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, where a parade and rally were held to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win.
At least 10 people were shot, and one person was killed. The exact number of victims and their identities have not been confirmed yet.
Three victims were in critical condition and five were in serious condition¹. The rest of the victims had non-life-threatening injuries.
Two suspects have been taken into custody by the police. Their motives and backgrounds are still under investigation.
The shooting caused panic and chaos among the paradegoers, who were estimated to be around 1 million. Many people ran for cover or tried to help the wounded.
The Chiefs players, coaches, and staff were safe and expressed their condolences and prayers for the victims and their families.
