‘Talk Ville’ returns for second season

1 min read

Talk Ville has returned to a tornado stricken “Smallville” in the latest episode of the rewatch podcast from the hit Superman show’s former costars Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum.

John also remembers Annette O’Toole (Martha Kent) going to “bat” for him and how Lionel was essential to the family tropes of “Smallville.”

The dynamic duo of Kansas talked about the difficulty of getting back into character after a hiatus between season’s one and two, why Michael couldn’t play Jonathan Kent presently and nature vs. nurture in the Luthor family.

They also talk about Jon Schneider’s emotional performance as Jon Kent, Lana growing suspicious of Clark in the show and how Clark’s silence equates to guilt and his consistent gaslighting of the characters.

Tom also spoke about the dawn of the infamous “Smallville” red-blue wardrobe and why he avoids the colors to this day.

We’re baaack! It’s a new year and a brand new season of our rewatch. This week Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum dive into Season 2 Episode 1 of Smallville: Vortex. They pick up on the tornado cliffhanger from last season’s finale and discuss what it was like behind the scenes to shoot something of that magnitude. The guys also talk about what it was like jumping back into their characters after a hiatus, the emotionally powerful choices taken by John Schneider in this episode, and their feelings around Clark putting on his patented red jacket, blue shirt combo.

Talk Ville episode description

Clark (Welling) saves Lana (Kristin Kreuk) from the tornado, leading Lana to be suspicious of Clark. While protecting Clark’s secret, Jonathan (Jon Schneider) gets trapped with reporter Roger Nixon (Tom O’Brian) in an underground mausoleum. Lex (Rosenbaum) and Clark search for Jonathan.

Currently, “Smallville” is available to stream on Hulu. Learn more about “Talk Ville” and subscribe on their website. “Vortex” aired Sept. 24, 2002.
