‘Avatar’ returns to theaters

James Cameron’s Academy Award-winning 2009 epic adventure “Avatar,” one of the most successful films of all time, will return to theaters Friday, Sept. 23, in 4K High Dynamic Range. The film will play in theaters for a two-week limited engagement.

Written and directed by Cameron, “Avatar” stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, Stephen Lang as Col. Miles Quaritch, Michelle Rodriguez as Trudy Chacón, and Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine.

The film was produced by Cameron and Jon Landau. Nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, the film won three Oscars: Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Visual Effects.
