The Taking the Initiative Party, her affiliated group, released a statement saying that Sasha “is currently hospitalized and in critical condition.” According to the party, Johnson sustained a gunshot wound to her head on Sunday morning in London.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has sustained a gunshot wound to her head,” the Taking The Initiative Party said in a statement. “She is currently hospitalized and in critical condition. The incident happened in the early hours of this morning, following numerous death threats.”

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Trident) conducted urgent enquiries at the scene of the incident and in the surrounding area throughout the day and are pursuing a number of priority lines of enquiry.

It is believed that the shooting occurred in the vicinity of a house where a party was taking place and that a number of people may have been in the area.

According to police, the investigation is at an early stage and nothing suggests that Johnson was the subject of a targeted attack or that she had received any credible threats against her prior to this incident.

“This was a shocking incident that has left a young woman with very serious injuries,” Detective Chief Inspector Jimi Tele said. “Our thoughts are with her family who are being provided with support at this terribly difficult time.”
