Growing up I’ve always been inspired by the Daily Planet. Not just the newspaper, but the people who brought it to life. Lois Lane, Clark Kent and Perry White have always been icons to me. Their profession was a noble one to aspire to.

In recent years journalism has come under fire. The reputable career has been fractured, shattered in the halls of justice in which it once stood undeterred. But, much like the Daily Planet in comics, journalism is a triumphant creature that always pieces itself together, emerging forth from the ashes to expose any form of corruption that cripples society.

This is why I chose this career. This is why I brought the Daily Planet out of the pages of DC Comics and into reality. I wanted to reassure weary readers with an already reputable source. I wanted to create a community news organization on a global scale. I wanted to change the world.

In the times of fear and confusion, the job of informing the public is the responsibility of the Daily Planet. A great metropolitan newspaper who’s reputation for clarity and truth had become a symbol of hope for the city of Metropolis.  It’s my life dream to have it shine in a similar light to so many around the world.

Housed in the fabled Artdeco masterpiece in the heart of Metropolis, the Planet always had it’s finger on the pulse of information. And the Daily Planet Building? How could anyone gaze at its familiar ringed globe and not be moved? Its modest facade belied the Planet’s towering ambition and commitment to journalistic integrity. Its basement printing presses whirred tirelessly, day and night, to bring the ink-stained news of the city, the nation and the world into the hands of every citizen.

As Metropolis grew, so too did the Daily Planet, both in its physical presence and worldwide reputation. The Planet served as a constant reminder that truth, justice and the American way must always be safeguarded. And any threat –– domestic, foreign or alien –– be constantly held up to the light.

Even when it meant being a target itself. The Daily Planet always persevered. It always fought for the truth, for what’s right. The crusading reporters; intrepid investigators; chroniclers of life, law, sports, politics, entertainment and the arts; editors, photographers, analysts and commentators all gave the Planet life. The same could be said about us. The Planet staff always possessed compassionate hearts. Their love for others made their reporting so impactful.

As we progress further into the 21st century, we gain access to a multitude of resources to better tell a story. Videography, podcasting, writing and photography is so easily retained in todays tech filled world. There are so many options for telling a story, and dailyplanetdc.com utilizes them all.

Consider joining our team and accompanying us on this ever-growing adventure. After all, the Daily Planet is where heroes are born, and the story continues.
