CHISHOLM, MN — Local governments and Tribal Nations across northeastern Minnesota now have access to free housing development support through a new Housing Technical Assistance Program introduced by the Northland Foundation and North Shore Development Co. (NSDC).

Funded by the Minnesota Legislature in 2023 and authored by Sen. Grant Hauschild and former Rep. Dave Lislegard, the three-year initiative aims to address housing challenges in rural communities and neighboring Native nations. NSDC will provide technical assistance at no cost, helping applicants navigate complex development projects.

“This state-funded program is a tremendous opportunity for our Iron Range cities and Tribal Nations,” said IRRR Commissioner Ida Rukavina. “NSDC’s expertise will help communities create actionable roadmaps for housing development.”

Eligible applicants include cities, counties, housing authorities, and Tribal governments within the Taconite Assistance Area. Applications are now being accepted.
