MLB expands local game coverage for Guardians, Brewers and Twins

1 min read

MLB will show local games for the Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins in the 2025 season, giving fans more ways to watch on TV or stream online. This comes after Twins fans had difficulty watching games in the 2024 season.

The Texas Rangers will not partner with Diamond Sports Group anymore and are exploring local media options for the 2025 season.

Last season, the Guardians reached about 1.45 million households, while the Twins reached around 1.08 million. With MLB’s streaming service, Cleveland’s games can now potentially reach about 4.86 million households (+235%) and Minnesota can reach around 4.40 million homes (+307%). Similarly, Milwaukee also had a streaming option with its former media setup and will keep this with MLB in the future.

The deals with the Guardians, Brewers, and Twins will be like how MLB handled games for the Diamondbacks, Rockies and Padres in 2024. Last season, MLB set up cable and satellite deals and offered direct streaming at Dbacks.TV, Padres.TV, and Rockies.TV.

“With the media landscape continuing to evolve, Major League Baseball is committed to serving our fans by ensuring they can see their favorite Clubs, removing blackouts where we can, and ultimately growing the reach of our games,” said Noah Garden, MLB Deputy Commissioner, Business and Media. “We are proud to bring Guardians, Brewers and Twins games to their passionate fan bases with the same high-quality production that we have demonstrated in Arizona, Colorado, and San Diego.”

Local MLB games last year included unique features typically seen in televised games, such as Ump Cam, live feeds from the Replay Operations Center, Wire Cam, on-field pregame and postgame coverage, a new RF camera for a blurred background effect and more in-game interviews with players.

“In addition to expanding reach, Major League Baseball is utilizing resources to provide fans with an outstanding production that features new technology, improved picture quality, and better access to the game and players,” said Billy Chambers, MLB Executive Vice President, Local Media.

Since 2009, MLB Network has been owned and operated by Major League Baseball. It has produced live games for 16 seasons, earned critical acclaim, and won 42 National Sports Emmy Awards in 13 categories. MLB was the first professional sports league to stream a regular-season game on August 26, 2002. In 2024, baseball fans streamed a record 14.5 billion minutes of live games and content on MLB.TV.

More information about where and how fans can watch will be made available closer to the 2025 season.
