The grandsons of Superman’s co-creator Jerry Siegel Michael and James Larson visited DC creative head James Gunn on the set of his upcoming “Superman” movie to gift him a copy of an “Action Comics” no.1 reprint signed by their grandfather.
Gunn shared the moment on social media saying that “it’s been great having Mike and Jim around keeping Jerry’s spirit alive in the birth of the DCU! Here we all were on the day of the cast read through.”
“Action Comics” no.1 featured the first appearance of Superman and Lois Lane and saw the dawn of the superhero genre.
Michael and James are the sons of Laura Siegel Larson, the daughter of Joanne Siegel, who modeled for Lois Lane and later married Jerry Siegel. Joanne is recognized in the comics in the form of Lois’ middle name.
Gunn’s “Superman” features David Corenswet as Superman / Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.
“Superman” is scheduled to be released July 11, 2025.
