Man found dead leads to homicide investigation in Saint Paul’s West Side neighborhood

Saint Paul police are investigating after a person was found deceased with an apparent gunshot injury in the city’s West Side neighborhood very early Monday morning.

SAINT PAUL— Just after midnight, a 911 caller reported a person down on the ground behind a residence on the 400 block of South Clinton Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot injury. Officers secured the scene and Saint Paul Fire medics pronounced the male victim dead on scene. 

Investigators with the police department’s homicide unit are currently working to determine the circumstances that led to this death and who is responsible. In addition, members of the video management unit are looking for any surveillance video that could help determine what happened.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn. 

This is the 29th homicide of 2023 in Saint Paul.
