Abortion ‘trigger’ bans take effect in three states

Laws passed in anticipation of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade took effect on Thursday in Tennessee, Idaho and Texas, banning abortion from conception in Tennessee and Idaho and raising the penalty for abortion providers in Texas.

In North Dakota, a state judge blocked the so-called trigger abortion ban with a temporary injunction a day before the law would have taken effect. 13 states have trigger bans that were designed to take effect with the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
