‘Batgirl’ casting update includes 1989 Batman Michael Keaton

1 min read

A recently released press kit for Warner Brother’s upcoming DC Comics inspired movie “Batgirl” now includes Batman alumni Michael Keaton.

Keaton is most famous among DC fans for his groundbreaking work in Director Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman” film and its following Christmas themed sequel “Batman Forever.” Keaton is poised to reprise his role as the caped crusader in next year’s “The Flash” as well.

“Batgirl” is currently in production in Scotland and is set to follow Barbara Gordon’s origin story as she, inspired by Batman, takes on the mantle of Batgirl in Gotham City.

Leslie Grace has been cast as the lead character, with J.K Simmons returning as her father Commissioner James Gordon. Brendan Fraser is set to play the villain Firefly, and Jacob Scipio is also cast as an unspecified character. Keaton is presumably playing Batman.
