Multi-platinum pop artist Kesha has unveiled “Attention! (SMASH Features)”, a new extended play featuring two original remixes of her hit single “Attention!” The project debuts alongside SMASH, a global creator community and marketplace that connects musicians, producers, and songwriters to collaborate independently.
The SMASH feature challenge, which invited creators from around the world to reinterpret Kesha’s single, received over 500 submissions from more than 40 countries. Kesha selected her two favorite remixes, by Sizzy Rocket and XAMIYA, for inclusion on the EP, which is now available via her independent label, Kesha Records.
“I’ve learned from my own experience fighting for ownership of my music and being my own record label for the past six years that having a career as an independent female artist in the music industry is not for the faint of heart,” said Sizzy Rocket, one of the remix winners. “Kesha’s message is a reminder that no one gets to take away your voice or your right to live authentically wild and free.”
Co-founded by Kesha Sebert (CEO), Alan Cannistraro (CTO), and Lagan Sebert (COO), SMASH is designed to empower creators by fostering community support and offering a direct path to professional opportunities. The platform brings together songwriters, artists, producers, singers, and engineers in a collaborative environment that shifts influence away from traditional industry gatekeepers.
The platform’s launch has already garnered media attention from outlets such as Variety, WIRED, and TechCrunch. It follows SMASH’s first initiative, a remix competition centered on Kesha’s single “Boy Crazy,” which led to the release of “Boy Crazy (SMASH Remixes)” earlier this year.
According to SMASH, the goal is to help music creators “find their tribe” and retain full rights to their work, while building sustainable careers in an evolving digital landscape.
Kesha, who launched her own label in 2024, continues to advocate for artistic independence. Her sixth studio album. (Period), released on Independence Day through Kesha Records, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Dance Albums chart and No. 3 on the Independent Albums chart.
Beyond music, the singer-songwriter’s ventures include television, film, publishing, and cosmetics. Her Tits Out Tour earlier this year featured sold-out performances at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York City.
SMASH’s leadership team includes several prominent figures from the music and technology sectors. Cannistraro, formerly at Apple and Facebook, helped pioneer iOS apps and the original Apple Podcasts platform. Sebert, an experienced producer and entrepreneur, has collaborated with prominent artists and brands, including Google, Meta, and IBM. Advisors to the project include Nicole St. Jean, a veteran of Twitter and Peloton’s music partnerships; Jessica McKellar, co-founder and CEO of the accounting firm Pilot; and Sizzy Rocket and XAMIYA, winners of the inaugural SMASH remix challenge.
