VIRGINIA, MN — Governor Tim Walz has commended Minnesota’s Iron Range for being selected as the host of the 2025 Pan Continental Curling Championships (PCCC), marking the first time the international event will be held in the United States.
At a press conference last week at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center, Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation (IRRR) Commissioner Ida Rukavina joined representatives from USA Curling, World Curling, and the Curl Mesabi Foundation to announce U.S. Steel’s $100,000 title sponsorship. The event will take place October 19–26 in Virginia and Eveleth.
“This championship celebrates athleticism and community,” Walz said in a statement read by Commissioner Rukavina. “Minnesota is proud to welcome an international event that reflects our rich curling heritage and showcases the Iron Range as a world-class destination.”
The event is expected to draw 40 teams from 25 countries, generating significant economic activity and tourism across the region. Local leaders, including Sen. Rob Farnsworth, Rep. Cal Warwas, Virginia Mayor Larry Cuffe, and representatives from U.S. Steel and USA Curling, were in attendance.
Community members interested in volunteering can contact Curl Mesabi for opportunities to participate.
