On March 31, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios unveiled the title of the fourth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man saga, starring Tom Holland. The film will be titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
The news broke when Holland, who wasn’t in Las Vegas for the studio’s presentation due to his commitment to currently shooting Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” did appear via video message alone.
“I am so sorry I can’t be with you,” Holland started. “I am halfway around the world shooting a movie. I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of ‘No Way Home,’ so ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”
The project will be helmed by director Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Seven Rings”) and, in typical Marvel MO, no plot details were revealed. Still, the director did share that the team is very deep into pre-production and is scheduled to start filming this summer.
Cretton then spoke to the CinemaCon audience by addressing and noting, “Every day right now, I’m exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of incredible artists of the world. How to swing, how to create an emotional story and a ride we haven’t seen before.”

In addition, no other details regarding the film were unveiled besides the confirmation of the cast being slowly pieced together. Holland will reprise his role as the titular web-slinger Spider-Man/Peter Parker. The currently confirmed cast includes Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Challengers”) and Sadie Sink (”Stranger Things,” “The Whale,” “Dear Zoe”).
Cretton will be in the director’s chair, with a screenplay from “No Way Home” scribes Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is producing alongside Sony Pictures.
Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated to swing into theaters next year on July 31st, 2026, a few months after the events and release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers Doomsday which just unveiled a plethora of familiar faces last week to join the heroic ensemble which will be piloted and directed by the Russo brothers.
Next up for the MCU theatrically is Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts,” which will release later this spring on May 2, 2025.
