2025 is proving to be quite the year for Superman fans. Yesterday, DC Comics announced a summer-long slate of Super-title releases leading up to the anticipated “Superman” movie reboot, and today we got our first glimpse at Kara Zor-El.

Our first official glimpse of the Girl of Steel features actor Milly Alcock, who will be starring as the titular character. She’s sporting the classic blonde locks while sitting on a production chair featuring the film’s airbrushed-looking logo, which matches that of David Corenswet’s Superman.

Officially titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” Alcock stars as the iconic superhero in the film, which is based on the 2022 comic book series of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Nogueira.

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is being filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom, where “Harry Potter” and “Wonder Woman” were also produced.

James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, announced the start of filming on social media, sharing the behind-the-scenes photo of Alcock as Kara Zor-El.

“Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El,” Gunn said. “Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every bit the unique #Supergirl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Nogueira.”

Alcock, known for her role in “House of the Dragon,” was reportedly Gunn’s first choice for the part.

Jason Momoa will return to the DC Universe as the galactic bounty hunter Lobo. Momoa shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite. I’ve always wanted to play Lobo because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role.'”

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, Jason Momoa as Lobo, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Alura. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, based on the comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran, with cinematography by Rob Hardy.

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is set to be just one of many additions to the DC (Cinematic) Universe, following the hoped success of “Superman” and the acclimations from the animated series “Creature Commandos.”
