Mayor Case commemorates completion of Eden Prairie solar project, wants clean energy by 2050

EDEN PRAIRIE— To support Eden Prairie’s Climate Action Plan goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and to provide residents with access to renewable energy, the City partnered with Cooperative Energy Futures (CEF) to build a roof-top solar garden at the Community Center.

Earlier this week, the project was completed and began producing energy.

Starting in September, the approximately 150 Eden Prairie households subscribed to the solar garden will begin to see savings on their monthly energy bills.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the completion of this important project,” said Mayor Ron Case. “This is another exciting step toward our goal to make renewable energy accessible to everyone in Eden Prairie.”

Joining a community solar garden

Joining a community solar garden does not require physical changes to your home or an upfront investment. Participants receive monthly credits on their electric bills for their portion of the solar energy produced by the project and pay for that energy at a lower rate, creating a net monthly savings.
