Trump rally shooting being investigated as assassination attempt

Several people found themselves ducking for cover on Saturday while attending a Trump rally in Butler, PA, as a shooter targeted the former president and 2024 candidate in what is now being investigated as an assassination attempt.

“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” Trump said to The Wall Street Journal. “Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”

Notable Democrats like California Governor Gavin Newsom and President Joe Biden both took to social media to condemn the attack, stating violence has no place in a democracy.

Trump took to Truth Social to extend his condolences to the family of the person who the shooter killed: “It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country.”

Shots were sent out toward the former president while he was giving a speech on how his impact on immigrant numbers was better in comparison to “the worst president in the history of [The United States] took over” the numbers became after his run.

It didn’t take long before he was covering his ear and ducking behind the podium for safety. Gunfire could still be heard alongside the screams of the attending supporters. Blood was seen dripping down Donald Trump’s right ear while the Secret Service quickly removed him from the stage.

According to Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger, the shooter was found dead alongside one audience member after the shooting. Some reports I dictate local authorities took out the assailant with sniper riffles.

One spectator was killed and two others were critically injured after “multiple shots” were fired, the Secret Service said on social media.

Statements have been made regarding Trump’s safety and well-being. A Secret Service spokesperson posted on X that “The Secret Service has implemented protective measures” and that the former president “is safe.” Trump’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, said he “is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.” Trump also thanked enforcement and first responders for acting quickly during this heinous act.

Trump’s recent brush with death has caused much to talk about amongst supporters of both political parties. Some believe that this attempted assassination will increase the chances of Trump’s victory in November. Others are saying the attempt looked completely staged.

Federal authorities stated that they are investigating the shooting as an assassination attempt on former president and current 2024 Presidential Candidate Trump.
