Celebrity guests for the 46th Annual Superman Celebration, which will be taking place June 7-9, 2024 in Metropolis, Illinois, were announced by the City of Metropolis tourism bureau over the weekend.
“Superman Returns” and The CW actor Brandon Routh (Superman/Clark Kent, Ray Palmer/The Atom) and “Superman & Lois” and The CW actor Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane) will both be appearing Saturday, June 8 only along with producer Gil Adler (“Tales of the Crypt,” “Superman Returns”). “Superman IV: Quest for Peace” actor Mark Pillow (Nuclear Man) will be appearing for the total event.
“For 45 years, the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce, City of Metropolis and the Greater Metropolis Convention & Visitors Bureau have hosted the Metropolis Superman Celebration,” Metropolis city officials said on their website. “What started as a 1 day event for the local community has grown into a 4 day extravaganza celebrating all things Super and welcoming fans from around the globe.”
The self proclaimed, and officially declared by DC Comics, “Hometown of Superman” welcomes fans from all over for an event ripped right from the pages of a comic book.
The Superman Celebration Las announced their Artists Alley and Writers Way guests.
Mark Spears is an award-winning artist who is currently creating covers for “Action Comics,” “World’s Finest,” “Green Lantern War Journal,” “Kneel Before Zod,” “Spawn,” “Gunslinger Spawn,” “King Spawn,” “Scorched” and “Sam and Twitch.” Spears will be appearing the entire weekend.
Zach Howard, a freelance professional illustrator of 24 years, will also be attending the entire weekend. His most notable employers include Marvel, DC, Image, Nickelodeon, IDW, Boom, Simon & Schuster, and Steve Jackson Games.
“Voices from Krypton: the complete 85-year oral history of Superman” author Edward Gross will also be attending all weekend. He is a veteran entertainment journalist who has been covering film, television, comic books and more for the past 40.
Artist Victor Ku, who I met at Twin Cities Con in 2022, will also be attending the event. Ku has worked on indie comic cover “SAVAGE: The Legend of Blue Raven” and is also known as the Snyder Cut Movie poster winner.
Indiana-based cartoonist and the artist/writer behind Once Upon A Platypus, an all-ages sci-fi/fantasy tale about a young girl Ron Braun will also be attending.
Jim and Lora Pinkstaff are artists based out of Terre Haute, IN. They specialize in superhero, rock and roll, sci-fi, and spooky art. They’ll also be at the Superman Celebration.
William (Bill) Hood is an illustrator from Louisville, KY. He began drawing at the early age of “very young” and has taught character design, comic inking, creative writing, and art over the years. He’ll be there as well.
Artist Trevor Hawkins, believes that art can and should be made based on what the artist perceives as relevant, will be seen at the celebration, too.
Artists Peter Melonas, Carl Wilson and Todd Black will all be joining in the festivities as well.
