The Vikings have agreed to terms with cornerback Shaquill Griffin, the team announced Tuesday.
The veteran who will turn 29 in July brings 89 regular-season games of experience, including 79 starts, to a young cornerbacks room.
Griffin started the 2023 season with the Texans and made six starts for Houston before he was waived at the end of November. Carolina quickly claimed Griffin, and he started one of three games for the Panthers before becoming a free agent last week.
Griffin began his NFL career with Seattle as a third-round pick (90th overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft.
He opened 53 of 57 games for the Seahawks and made the Pro Bowl following the 2019 season. Griffin racked up 48 passes defensed and recorded six interceptions for Seattle.
During his 2018-20 seasons with Seattle, Griffin was able to team with his twin brother Shaquem, an outside linebacker who was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and played 46 games, despite having had his left hand amputated.
In 2021, Shaquill joined the Jacksonville Jaguars for two seasons. The Florida native who played collegiately at UCF appeared in 19 games for the Jaguars (all starts) before landing on Injured Reserve in October 2022.
Griffin joins a cornerbacks room that has Byron Murphy, Jr., Mekhi Blackmon, Akayleb Evans, Andrew Booth, Jr., A.J. Green III, NaJee Thompson, Jaylin Williams and Joejuan Williams under contract for 2024.
