MINNEAPOLIS— From Jan. 25 to 27, the Minnesota Orchestra will continue its U.S. Bank Movies & Music concert series with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One” in Concert, the seventh installment of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series.
Led by Sarah Hicks, principal conductor of Live at Orchestra Hall, the ensemble will perform Alexandre Desplat’s original score while the film plays in high definition on a screen above the stage.
The “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One” concerts will be performed at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. Limited ticket quantities remain for all concerts, with tickets available for purchase through minnesotaorchestra.org. Concert run-times are two hours and 50 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission.
Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and CineConcerts created the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, the only official global concert tour celebrating the “Harry Potter” films. Since the world premiere of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in Concert in 2016, more than 3 million fans have enjoyed this magical experience from The Wizarding World, which is scheduled to include over 2,973 performances across more than 48 countries worldwide through 2025.
The 2010 fantasy film is the first of two cinematic parts based on the 2007 novel “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” In the film, Harry, Ron and Hermione set out to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort’s power—the Horcruxes. On their own and on the run, the three must rely on one another more than ever…but dark forces threaten to tear them apart.
The film’s score was created by Golden Globe- and Academy Award-winning composer Alexandre Desplat, who followed John Williams, Patrick Doyle and Nicholas Hooper as composers for the Harry Potter™ series. The soundtrack was nominated for the 2010 Award for Best Original Score for a Fantasy Film by the International Film Music Critics Association, and the 2010 Satellite Award for Best Original Score.
The remaining film to be presented live in concert during the Minnesota Orchestra’s 2023-24 U.S. Bank Movies & Music concert series will be “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” from May 16 to 18.
