Early morning shooting leaves one dead in Frogtown

Saint Paul police are investigating a homicide after a man was found lying in the street near the intersection of Sherburne Avenue and Mackubin Street on Sunday, September 3.

SAINT PAUL— Just before 2 a.m., officers were called to the 400 block of Sherburne Avenue on reports of shots fired in the area.  When officers arrived, they located an adult male who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers secured the area and will be working to determine what led to this incident, as well as investigating who is responsible. 

The Forensic Services Unit will be processing the scene for evidence and the video management unit will also be canvassing the areas for cameras that may have captured what occurred.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call investigators at 651-266-5650.  

The Ramsey County medical examiner will positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn. 

This is the 24th homicide of 2023 in Saint Paul.
