Brooklyn Park provides update on violence prevention group proposal

1 min read

Brooklyn Park— Brooklyn Park Mayor Hollies Winston provided an update on the City’s work to develop a violence prevention group to promote community safety.

“While we were impressed with Men in Black’s plan for the community, I and my Council colleagues recently became aware of new information. As a result, we are taking a pause and considering our options,” said Mayor Hollies Winston. “Violence prevention work is incredibly important to our community, and we have to get it right. The people of Brooklyn Park deserve to feel safe in every part of our city.”

The Brooklyn Park City Council approved a $650,000 contract (funded by American Rescue Plan Act dollars) at its March 13, 2023 meeting and planned to formally begin a relationship with Men in Black Security in Spring 2023. The contract has not been signed at this time.
